about
Being an English teacher I like to read about the history of the British kingdoms. Since I picked up studying again, in September, I've had to do a lot of reading and at one point all these stories about the British monarchy made me want to write a song about a queen. In two of the groups I teach, I had just watched 'The Lion, The With and The Wardrobe' and so the queen in my song was loosely based on the White Witch. Oh and on some other people ;).
lyrics
She wears her crown
Her bloodstained fingernails
She hides behind her gloves
All the hard wore her down
Her people bow
The firmest monarchy
They have ever known
And they will ever see
The walls that keep them safe
She claims to have built them all herself
They have no reason to
distrust her ever spotless reign
But they don’t know
Her fort is built upon their graves
And they all trust her with
their lives she’ll away one day
Her people bow
So they won’t see her cunning smile
And when they rise
The hard work will have them worn down
No rumours spread
Her pure name glorified
Infallible to them
as long’s the devil's on her side
She hold her head
high up in the clouds
But with her roots so plain
Her feet still touch the ground
She says she needs their help
Their queen is strong if they are too
But in their darkest hour
She will take all they have to lose
She likes to think that she stands out
More equal than her sheepish crowd
Just make believe, so they won't know
Their queen at one point sold her soul
But they don’t know
Her fort is built upon their graves
And they all trust her with
their lives she’ll away one day
Her people bow
So they won’t see her cunning smile
And when they rise
The hard work will have them worn down
